France captain Hugo Lloris has said that his side's friendly win over Germany previous year will have little bearing on Thursday's Euro 2016 semifinal.
Speaking on Wednesday at his press conference to preview the match in Marseille, Deschamps - France's captain for the 1998 triumph and when they won Euro 2000 - said: "No one can change history, but there are some new chapters to be written and the players can write them".
Howedes, who played in the quarter-finals against Italy, could appear on Thursday against France instead of Hummels.

Infielders Ryan Goins and Darwin Barney pitched an inning each for the Blue Jays in the Indians' 2-1 win in 19 innings on Friday. Carrera scooted home on Edwin Encarnacion's sacrifice fly to shortstop Francisco Lindor, who battled the sun in making the catch.
It was the first time in the tournament that German goalkeeper Manuel Neuer has conceded a goal in the tournament. "This is a team that doesn't concede a lot of goals", added Deschamps, whose side booked their semi-final berth with a 5-2 win over England's conquerors, Iceland.
"Germany have always been a master of having more possession than the opponent, but we can not play this game only thinking of defending", he told the press.
"The France national team means a great deal to me and I hope we can go as far as possible".
Despite missing key players with injury and suspension, and with striker Thomas Mueller yet to find the net, Germany are in confident mood.
A World Cup victor with France in 1998, before lifting the European Championship two years later, Deschamps is in the relatively unique position of contending the title as a coach after winning it as a player.
But I'm enjoying the competition with the France team and I'm trying to help us achieve our objective.
But Giroud faces Gunners team-mate Mesut Ozil and the world champions in the worldwide form of his life - after netting ten goals in 11 games.
"I've never anxious about my future, that's part of my strength".
