Dodgers-Nats rained out in Game 2 of NLDS; will play Sunday

The Los Angeles Dodgers take their 1-0 lead in the NLDS against the Washington Nationals into game 2, which takes place later than it initially should have been due to being rained out.

Washington's Bryce Harper hits a foul ball during his at-bat in the ninth inning of Game 1 of the National League Division Series against the Los Angles Dodgers at Nationals Park on in Washington.

Nationals manager Dusty Baker spoke about the decision Washington had to make for their Game 2 starter - Roark or Gio Gonzalez.

Said Dodgers manager Dave Roberts: "You know the wind was blowing in, and you've got to click it to get it out".

Note the time stamps, for a game that was scheduled to start at 1:08.

"I didn't really think anything of it", Seager said.

"The finger is irrelevant at this point", he said. Because of a groin injury and the recurring blister issues, Hill has made just nine starts since the end of May (all but three of them on extended rest).

Lobaton becomes just the second catcher to hit a postseason home run in Expos/Nationals franchise history, after Gary Carter.

The Blue Jays will be hoping for a strong start from Sanchez (15-2), who led the American League with a 3.00 earned-run average. Sanchez is noticeably worse at home, with a 3.74 ERA in Rogers Centre as opposed to a 2.48 mark on the road this season.

Hill, fired up and wriggling in and out of trouble, induced a 1-2-3 double play to escape a bases-loaded jam and hold that 2-0 lead in the second inning. Given their history with this current group, it's hard to envision the Nationals going to Los Angeles having lost the first two games of the series at home and even getting the series back to Washington if they extended it beyond three games at all. "As a result, we have chose to postpone tonight's game until Sunday". "Obviously every series, things change".

For what it's worth, Kershaw was on the field at Nationals Park early Saturday afternoon, running and playing catch with bullpen catcher Steve Cilladi in the rain. Lefty Marc Rzepczynski walked three in 1 1/3 innings, but got a key bases-loaded strikeout, and fellow lefty Sammy Solis replaced him to quell the last big Dodger threat, getting Adrian Gonzalez on a soft fly to left with the tying runs on in the sixth.

The Nationals' previous postseason failures stemmed from bullpen leakage and managerial gaffes both on the field and in the front office.

Game 3 will be today in Los Angeles with the series tied at one game each. In 2014, Kershaw started Game 4 of the NLDS against the St. Louis Cardinals and lost, ending the series. Max Scherzer very well could return for that game in a must-win situation.

And after the NL East champion Nationals wasted plenty of opportunities to score in a 4-3 loss on Friday, it was the NL West-winning Dodgers' turn to come up short in the clutch: Los Angeles left the bases loaded three times.

Blue Jays president Mark Shapiro, who spent 24 years with Cleveland before joining Toronto last fall, said he'd already reached out to one former Indians colleague about a potential ALCS meeting.

"I feel great for him". He struck out with three runners on in the second and then Chase Utley grounded out.

"During the regular season, you might let a matchup play out to give guys a chance (against a left-handed pitcher)", he said. That's 19 plate appearances in two games, 9.5 per game, after averaging 9.04 PA per game with RISP during the regular season.
