Brendan Rodgers's Celtic also exposed City's defensive fragilities, and it is now completely capable to provide stiff competition to Borussia.
Midfielder Scott Sinclair believes Celtic must take the game to Gladbach from the start to come away with a much-needed win.
"It is a massive game and one that we need to win".
Eoghan O'Connell could now feature alongside Sviatchenko and Rodgers has the option of playing right-back Mikael Lustig in the centre with Cristian Gamboa able to come in.
He further said that Borussia were a stronger side on the night at Celtic Park, but the home side will not find it as easier when it plays again this week.
"Obviously they are a great side".
Up to 6,000 Celtic fans are expected in Monchengladbach for the match but their spirits may be dampened slightly due to many pubs being closed because of a local bank holiday.
Syrian Rebels Keep Up Offensive Against Western Aleppo
The allegation came on the third day of a rebel offensive to break a three-month siege of the opposition-held east of Aleppo. Putin will launch a full-scale military attack on the Syrian city of Aleppo as early as this week, it has been reported .
The hosts were still the side creating the better chances as the match transpired, with Fabian Johnson played through but getting the ball stuck under his feet and sending his shot wide, before Christoph Kramer blasted at Gordon from inside the box.
Gladbach have struggled to score in the Bundesliga recently, but they looked every bit the clinical attacking outfit when Christoph Kramer's pass fed Hazard, whose cross was met with a perfectly timed Stindl volley that gave Gordon no chance.
The Scottish champions, however, could have been satisfied to a degree with their first-half performance.
Amid all that Patrick Roberts replaced James Forrest and, as the game stretched, opportunities presented themselves at both ends.
Dembele was pulled down by Julian Korb as the Celtic forward was running toward the goal to earn the penalty, while Korb was sent off. Dembele sent goalkeeper Yann Sommer the wrong way to level the score in the 76th but Celtic could not use the man advantage to score the victor.
On the other side, Dembele had a good effort saved by Sommer.
