Carter doping a blight on Jamaican athletics, says JOA president

Usain Bolt was "not pleased" to be forced into handing over his 2008 Olympic 4x100 metre relay gold medal, but did state he would help finance an appeal if necessary.

Jamaica's relay team from Beijing of Bolt, the disgraced Carter, Asafa Powell, Michael Frater and Dwight Thomas have all handed their medals back to the Jamaica Olympic Association.

"Things happen in life, if it's confirmed or whatever and I need to give back my gold medal it's not a problem to me".

In his Olympic career, Bolt has won all three sprint events-100m, 200m, 4x100m relay-at the 2008, 2012 and 2016 games, giving him what is known as a "triple triple", the first of its kind in Olympic track competition.

The Jamaican Government, through the Sports Development Foundation, supported Carter's initial defense to the tune of $3.3 million, which was paid towards the sprinter's legal fees, ahead of his International Olympic Committee hearing last October.
