Mead and her 1-year-old daughter Winter Mead were reported missing Tuesday in Boulder after Ashley Mead did not show up for work and after having not been seen since Sunday.
On Wednesday, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol arrested Winter's father, 32-year-old Adam Densmore, for violating a custody order.
His daughter, who authorities said was not harmed, was placed in the temporary custody of Child Protective Services in Oklahoma.
A portion of Mead's remains may be in a purple suitcase left along the route that included a stop in Conway, authorities said in a news release. There are concerns that some of Mead's body parts may have been discarded in a variety of towns that Densmore passed through.
The Boulder Police Department is investigating the disappearance of 25-year-old Ashley Mead.
Based on preliminary identification of the body, Adam Densmore was jailed on a first-degree murder charge.

Ashley Mead, 25, was last seen February 12, according to Shannon Cordingly, Boulder Police Department spokeswoman. The arrest affidavit has been sealed by the court.
Boulder police on Wednesday said foul play was a "possibility", and, that same day, the Tulsa World newspaper reported that police in Okmulgee - about 40 miles south of Tulsa - discovered human remains that appeared to be female in a dumpster outside a Walmart. The pair hadn't been seen since Sunday.
A multi-state search is underway for the missing remains of a woman who police believe was murdered in Boulder before being at least partially dismembered near Shreveport, Louisiana.
