RFK's Son to Run for Governor in IL

Chris Kennedy, the son of the late Robert F. Kennedy, announced Wednesday that he is running for IL governor in 2018. Kennedy responded, "Absolutely not but I think we need to see that there are three branches of government".

Republicans in the state have quickly reacted to Kennedy's announcement by deriding him as a "pawn" of Michael Madigan, the Democratic House of Representatives Speaker that Republicans blame for the government's financial impasse.

Kennedy's father, Robert F. Kennedy, was assassinated in 1968 while serving as a USA senator.

Kennedy managed the Merchandise Mart, one of the largest LEED-certified buildings in the world.

"I think Gov. Rauner's taken a state government budget problem and turned it into economic chaos for the rest of the state".

Kennedy grew up in Boston, but has spent most of his life in Chicago as a businessman. "Chris Kennedy secretly met with Madigan this summer to kiss his ring and get Madigan's blessing", the Illinois GOP said in a statement. He and his wife Sheila Sinclair Kennedy run Top Box Foods, a hunger-relief nonprofit.

Trump to halt DoL fiduciary rule, review Dodd-Frank
The Department of Labor will review the rule established under former President Barack Obama to determine whether it is necessary. But dismantling Dodd-Frank is a huge mistake, argued Ed Mierzwinski, consumer program director for the U.S.

53-year-old, Kennedy is the former chairman of the University of Illinois Board of Trustees. He is now involved in real estate development at the Wolf Point project in Chicago. "I made money by employing people, by paying them".

Kelly is one of more than a dozen potential candidates for the 2018 election, when Gov. Bruce Rauner's first term of office is up.

"I have a vision for the future that restores the economy", Kennedy said. Rauner said he plans to seek re-election.

Another democrat considering a run for governor is Congresswoman Cheri Bustos.

"Mike Madigan endorsing a run for governor by Chris Kennedy tells you everything you need to know about Chris Kennedy", Illinois Republican Party spokesman Steven Yaffe responded.

Mr. House said the Kochs will attempt to sway IL elections and help Gov. Rauner "through shadow organizations and shady PACs (political action committees)".
