Madhya Pradesh train blast an act of terror, say police

The blast occurred in a general coach of the train between 9.30 a.m. and 10 a.m. when it was on its way to Ujjain from Bhopal, Railway PRO, Indore, Jitendra Kumar Jayant told PTI.

Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Bhupendra Singh today said initial investigation into the Bhopal-Ujjain passenger train blast suggested it was a "terror attack".

The explosion on the Ujjain-bound train is believed to have taken place in the general compartment next to the guard's coach, according to reports.

While two of the seriously injured were rushed to Bhopal, five injured persons were discharged. The injured were taken to the Kalapipal hospital. It is suspected that he may be involved in the train blast.

The local police, along with the GRP and RPF teams, were on the spot to investigate into the matter. The four injured people have been admitted to a nearby Civil hospital in the Kalapipal town of Shajapur district, tweeted the official handle of the Railway Ministry. "The reason behind the explosion could not be ascertained", Economic Times quoted IA Siddiqui, PRO, Bhopal Division of Indian Railways, as saying.

The Madhya Pradesh government has announced a compensation of Rs 25,000 to those injured and Rs 50,000 to those who have been critically injured in the train explosion.
