Saturday Night Live answered the question, from their pool of five-timer hosts.
The Hollywood icon bounded out onstage wearing a Five Timers Club smoking jacket, and graciously accepted the appointment, leaving Baldwin crestfallen.
Johnson even declared Tom Hanks his running mate when the two-time Oscar victor appeared on the SNL stage after Alec Baldwin presented Johnson with his special, 5 Timers Club smoking jacket. I think over the years I've become a guy that people relate to.
"A lot of people want to see a different leadership today - no, I'm sorry, not different, but a better leadership today", Johnson said.
After these words, Hanks looked at Johnson surprised.
Later in the monolog, Dwayne revealed that he and Hanks were just joking about running for president, but he still made a decision to add a few wise words about politics. But I bet you any amount of money that The Rock is quite literally focus-grouping whether or not it'll be worth his time to actually give it a crack in 2020. A better leadership. I think more poised, less noise.

It was not clear with whom he spoke but the sources said the topics discussed were also about improving US-Russian cooperation. Congressional investigators are seeking Comey's memos, as well as documents from the Justice Department related to the firing.
Dwayne suggested in a recent interview with GQ magazine he would be interested in running for office, and seemingly confirmed his political future on the Jimmy Fallon's Tonight Show on Thursday.
But, there has been some support for a Johnson presidential candidacy brewing recently, and the actor hasn't been entirely dismissive of the notion. "I would get the senior vote because I fought in World War II".
"The truth is [that] America needs us", Hanks said. "I could not possibly.turn this down". [If I didn't agree with someone] on something, I wouldn't shut them out.
If you haven't watched it yet, I'm not going to spoil it, but suffice it to say that Dwayne Johnson's character has certainly crafted the most evil invention ever. "Americans deserve strong capable leaders who care about this country and care about its people".
Both Johnson and Fallon have had an interesting relationship with the subject of the presidency in the past.
