House Oversight Committee wants Comey to testify at public hearing

The House Intelligence Committee on Wednesday requested the Federal Bureau of Investigation turn over former Director James Comey's memo's documenting conversations with President Trump, joining a number of panels seeking the memos.
Chaffetz, R-Utah, said Wednesday afternoon that he had yet to issue the invitation because Comey "evidently has a new (number)".

The FBI's probe includes examining whether any Trump campaign officials coordinated with Russian Federation to help swing the election in Trump's favor. They asked him to testify on the "circumstances of your termination" and his interactions with President Donald Trump's administration about the FBI's investigation into Russian Federation.
"We are writing to request that the Oversight Committee and the Judiciary Committee launch an immediate joint investigation into whether President Donald Trump and his top officials are engaged in an ongoing conspiracy to obstruct the criminal, counter-intelligence, and oversight investigations now being conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Department of Justice, and Congress into members of his presidential campaign and their contacts with Russian officials", they stated. House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform Chairman Rep. Jason Chaffetz on Tuesday also asked for any documents written by Comey describing his communications with Mr. Trump. "This is not a truthful or accurate portrayal of the conversation between the President and Comey", said a White House official.

"I think in the light of day in a public setting he should be able to tell us about the materials, if they're there, and I question whether or not they're actually there", he said, adding that he has yet to hear back from Comey about his request for public testimony, which he hopes to schedule for next week.
Republican Rep. Justin Amash on Wednesday said that if the claims about Mr. Trump's request to end the Flynn investigation are true, they may be grounds for impeachment.
