Irving feeling 'good' after Game 4 ankle injury

Overcoming adversity? Now that's a different story.

With a long 3-pointer late in the third quarter of Game 5 of the Eastern Conference finals, the Cleveland Cavaliers star passed Jordan as the NBA's all-time leading playoff scorer.

James, arguably the premier player in the game, leads a Cavs side that features the sublime talents of Australian-born, but USA loyal, point guard Irving and sharpshooting big man Love. Irving was able to stay on the floor and finish the game, scoring a career playoff-high 42 points.

"In the back of my mind, I was like, I'm saying to myself, "We can not - they can not tie up this series"," he said. You just have a choice to make, and it has to be a fearless approach.

"I'm not going to waver". It doesn't matter to me. How this injury plays out will likely determine whether Boston looks to hand the MVP candidate a max long-term deal. Such an absence is perfectly understandable for the vagaries of life, of which an unexpected death is but one manifestation, are bigger than any game.

"The close-out game is always the hardest", James said. Game 7 between the Penguins and Senators is on.

The deficit quickly grew to 16 before Irving caught fire.

While the Warriors have posted a ideal 12-0 record in the playoffs this season, the Cavs have almost matched them.

Capitals overwhelm Penguins 5-2 to force Game 7
Just 16 seconds in, Backstrom got a two-on-one rush and blasted the puck into the top of Marc-Andre Fleury's net. It was a scary scene, considering Crosby missed Game 4 after sustaining a concussion during Game 3.

"We're humble enough to know we haven't played well at home, and we want to give our home crowd a better outing than we did the past two games", Jae Crowder said.

"The kid is special", James said. It's tough to put into words.

"He showed why he's one of the best point guards in the league, and he commanded us to be better, especially in the second half". This is definitely going to be one of those stories he tells and will probably talk about. By the second half, Boston just couldn't keep up.

That the Cavs did, because they seem to thrive on drama.

― Reuters picLOS ANGELES, May 26 ― Cleveland superstar LeBron James surpassed National Basketball Association icon Michael Jordan as the league's all-time playoff scoring leader yesterday in the Cavaliers' Eastern Conference finals victory over the Celtics in Boston. No two teams have ever met three consecutive seasons in the Finals.

The Celtics have played better in Games 3 and 4, though.

The Celtics will host the Cavs for Game 5 Thursday night. The over/under total for the game is listed at 215.5 points.

That's the bad news for the Cavs. Not to say that the Celtics will win tonight, with injuries to so many key players, but punters should at least think about placing a bet with the Celtics outright, and then follow-up with a couple of live in play odds to maximize chances. "We go out and just try to be as great as we can be every night". "We have to execute offensively". It's not about making the extra passes as it is now about finishing and converting on each possession in Game 6. "Like, they hit the post, Golden State runs splits and all that stuff but these guys are running all kinds of (stuff)".
