Thanks to a 17-1 run early in the fourth quarter, the Cavs blew open a tight game and the Cavs took a commanding 3-0 lead in the series with a 115-94 win over the Raptors in front of a sold out crowd at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto.
"No it hasn't worked out the way we wanted it to", DeRozan said. "We need to be thinking about what we need to do to execute defensively and offensively coming into Sunday".
Raptors coach Dwane Casey said his players should use James's behaviour as motivation.
"Sunday's game is about pride", Casey said. "We had to come back by playing great basketball, and we did that".
Cory Joseph made the first playoff start of his National Basketball Association career in Lowry's place against the surging Cleveland Cavaliers, but managed just four points in Toronto's 115-94 loss.
LeBron James said he wasn't anxious about what happened a year ago. "This year we understood what mindset we had to come in, especially in a rowdy arena like this".
Kevin Love added 16 points and 13 rebounds for the Cavaliers, and Kyrie Irving also scored 16 while Kyle Korver had 14 points.
DeRozan will likely perform better when his team are at home, but Smith will fancy his chances at keeping him quiet in Game 4.
The Rockets' three-man bench of Eric Gordon, Nene and Lou Williams combined for 10 points on three-of-19 shooting. "But again, it's something we've done, knocking down 3s all year and, for whatever reason, it's escaping us right now". DeRozan scored from everywhere but the 3-point line.
Lowry, when asked by reporters if he'll be able to play in Game 4, said he's doubtful because of the swelling and pain he's experiencing in his ankle. "He was limping badly". "He just couldn't go".
"The only thing I anxious about when it comes to money was not to go broke", James said. Cory Joseph made his first playoff start in Lowry's place, but finished with just four points.
Even without Lowry, the Raptors trailed 79-77 to begin the fourth, but Cleveland pulled away as Toronto missed 10 of its first 11 field goal attempts to begin the final quarter.
Penguins' Sidney Crosby out for Game 4 with concussion
Niskanen, a former Penguins player, got a five-minute cross-checking major penalty and was ejected with a game misconduct penalty. It's been a while since we've seen Sidney Crosby lying on the ice like that, but it was immediately and frighteningly familiar.
The Toronto Raptors' two-headed monster had only one head Friday night and for three quarters it appeared it - or he - would shoot holes in the old axiom. The feisty point guard sprained his left ankle on Wednesday, joined his teammates for warmup, but was limping noticeably. That's the point disparity from 3-point range between the Cleveland Cavaliers and Toronto Raptors in this series.
The Raptors got beaten on the boards frequently by the undersized Tristan Thompson. Cleveland also clobbered Toronto 49-25 on the boards. His 22.4 points per game marked a career high and he chipped in with 7.0 assists per outing. The Raptors went through a 1-for-13 shooting slump and scored only three points in a six-minute stretch. It's soul crushing to go out and play as hard as the Raptors did for three quarters, only to lose in such a demoralizing way, at home no less.
81 - The number of points the Cleveland Cavaliers have from three-point land greater than the Toronto Raptors.
Lowry did not practice Saturday and received more treatment, adding he is not "giving up hope" of being able to attempt to play in Sunday's 3:30 p.m. ET game in Toronto.
The first two games of the series went very much the same way.
The Atlanta Hawks' next general manager will have total authority of personnel decisions after moves that dismantled the two-tier management team of Mike Budenholzer and Wes Wilcox.
When James hit two free throws with 7:23 left, Cleveland led by 12. Cleveland has now been 84 points better than Toronto on 3s. With the NBA's most famous global team ambassador in attendance, Toronto seemed to find new life early on.
Percentages: FG.513, FT.857. Cleveland had just 15 assists, but had 16 turnovers.
Percentages: FG.437, FT.941.
