Sidney Crosby, Conor Sheary return to Penguins practice

"You relay how you feel and they kind of direct you from there".

Crosby was held out of Wednesday's Game 4, which the Penguins won 3-2. And while he didn't absorb any hits, Crosby made contact with teammates during full-ice drills.

With the Penguins up 3-1 in the series, Pittsburgh will be cautious with the health of perhaps the best player in the world. He said the team would wait to see how the captain responds to today's practice, noting that Crosby's day-to-day status "hasn't changed at all".

Sid the Kid is not the type of player to miss a potential series-clinching game.

"We'll see", Crosby answered reporters regarding a possible Game 5 return. He missed 48 games with a concussion in 2010-11, 20 games in the first half of 2011-12, 40 more games in the back half of that season, and then six games at the start of this season after he was concussed during training camp. Sullivan insisted the team is taking the same approach with Crosby.

While Crosby appreciates the concern about his condition given his concussion history, he stressed he's not rushing back. "That's a pretty common play", Crosby said.

"I felt good right from the next day until now", Crosby said. Washington coach Barry Trotz called it "a hockey play".

"Mentally, I just have to be prepared to play if I get that call", he told the Tribune-Review. "Whenever it's time, I'll be ready". "I trust the staff and process".
