Tigers lineup: Ian Kinsler leading off after exiting Saturday's game

The Texas Rangers are the hottest team in baseball. I didn't locate pitches as well and didn't get away with any of them.

"We don't talk about a streak or anything", Napoli said.

Nick Castellanos added to the early lead in the third inning, when he tagged Texas right-hander A.J. Griffin for a three-run home run to rightfield.

"He saved the bullpen", Texas manager Jeff Banister said.

"It's still May, right?" he asked. Austin Bibens-Dirkx, though, was terrific in relief with 4 2/3 one-hit innings. Matt Bush earned his fifth save in six chances but it didn't come easy. Griffin is coming off a similar outing, allowing four runs and seven hits in five innings in his last start.

Sometimes it doesn't take long to realize that it's going to be a long night.

Verlander allowed three runs on four hits, walked one and struck out five.

Greece: More protests, strikes ahead of major austerity vote
On Wednesday, at least 18,000 people demonstrated in Athens and Thessaloniki in union-sponsored protests against the bill. Police fired tear gas in return, but in a statement, confirmed there were no arrests and no injuries.

And when he pulled a fastball into the rightfield seats for his fifth home run of the season, it ignited the Tigers offense in a 9-3 runaway win over the Rangers at Comerica Park. Two came in the fourth on a double by Nomar Mazara, and Jonathan Lucroy went deep in the sixth. Things got a little shaky in the fourth, but Verlander regained his composure like a pro.

Astros outfielder Norichika Aoki was 0-for-3.

ORIOLES 7, BLUE JAYS 5: Welington Castillo hit a go-ahead home run for the second consecutive game to lead Baltimore past Toronto at sold-out Camden Yards. The shot by Ruiz in the second was his first career homer and first hit of the season.

RAYS 5, YANKEES 4 Evan Longoria got four hits, including a tiebreaking single in the eighth inning that sent host Tampa Bay over NY. "One of the better parts of what he's done is how he's pitched with runners in scoring position - being able to be very stingy and bullish on not allowing any hard contact and giving up very minimal base hits in those situations". Stripling, Dodgers bench coach Bob Geren and Marlins manager Don Mattingly were all ejected. Griffin could have done two things that would have merited a successful response: He could have sprinted towards Kinsler or thrown to third to get the lead runner. He also homered twice in Baltimore's win on Friday, including a two-run walk-off shot in the 10th inning. An RBI for Cabrera in the third scored Kinsler, then Nicholas Castellanos decided not to be outdone and bashed in a three-run home run of his own. The Rockies lead the NL in wins at 27-16, their best mark through 43 games.

BREWERS 6, CUBS 3: Jett Bandy and Domingo Santana each hit a two-run single, helping surging Milwaukee to a rain-interrupted victory at Chicago.

In St. Louis, Eduardo Nunez doubled in two runs in the ninth inning and San Francisco rallied to defeat the Cardinals.
