Trump Tweets: "This is the single greatest witch hunt of a politician"

President Trump has described the appointment of a former Federal Bureau of Investigation director to investigate alleged ties between his campaign team and Russian Federation during the 2016 presidential election as the single greatest witch hunt of a politician in American history.

"Look at the way I've been treated lately, especially by the media", he said.

A fundraising letter titled "MORE SABOTAGE" begins with the 45th president writing: "What you're seeing in the news is a WITCH HUNT".

That's because Democrat Seth Moulton represents Salem, the scene of the single greatest witch hunt in American history.

'Please stop referring to Trump as a "witch".

"As the Representative of Salem, MA, I can confirm that this is false", Moulton tweeted.

State Dept. surprised by Tillerson defending Trump
[.] I am devoted to helping the president achieve his objectives, helping him be successful. Tillerson said in a statement that Trump and Lavrov discussed a broad range of subjects.

"But the real victim isn't me".

"The Salem witch hunt has always been used exactly the way President Trump used it", Mary Beth Norton, the author of "In the Devil's Snare: The Salem Witchcraft Crisis of 1692", told the Atlantic Thursday. The campaign said that figure was "a reflection of support" by the American people at a time when Trump is under attack. "That's the implication of the analogy".

The e-mail suggested that the witch hunt was the product of the enemies of the President's attempts to shake up Washington and swamp-dwellers who don't want to be drained.

"With all of the illegal acts that took place in the Clinton campaign & Obama Administration, there was never a special councel appointed!"

Trump fired FBI Director James Comey last week, prompting some to call for an independent prosecutor to lead the investigation. Those included a report by The Washington Post on Friday that the ongoing law enforcement investigation has identified a current White House official as a significant person of interest.
