"The heavyweight that knows how to fight, like Joshua, that's what makes boxing big".
Indeed, Joshua has been catapulted into popular mainstream culture after the 27-year-old conquered the king of old Wladimir Klitschko in front of 90,000 fans at Wembley Stadium last month.
"Joshua is a big man with a puncher's chance and has no footwork, no speed or stamina", Fury told BBC 5 live boxing.
DeGale - who warred with WBC super-middleweight champion Badou Jack in January but had to settle for a draw - wants to see Joshua and Klitchko go at it again. But it was still considered an important test.
The 28-year-old is now training in Marbella ahead of a return to boxing and is aiming to drastically lose weight after his prolonged time away from the ring. I'll go for the old dog with the cane and the teeth that he can take out his mouth and put them in a jar at night.
"With what Joshua can bring now everyone will want to fight him because he is bringing the money to the table".
Fury is not that impressed with Joshua's victory against Klitschko.
"I blew a gasket then - but I was smart, I knew how to control the fight, to get my breath back".
Russia, Iran, Turkey sign on 'de-escalation zones' in Syria
Under the Russian plan, President Bashar Assad's air force would halt flights over the safe zones. Mr Abdrakhmanov said the next Syria peace talks would be held in Astana in mid-July.
Although Joshua could end up fighting Klitschko in a rematch next, he is hoping for an all British showdown with former IBF/WBA/WBO champion Tyson Fury, who dethroned Klitschko by unanimous decision in 2015 before vacating the world titles due to a number of issues outside the ring. When I say I've never been more confident, or more serious when I say something - I can play with that bodybuilder. In the 11th, Joshua unloaded a bone-jarring right uppercut that almost severed Klitschko's head from his neck.
After the slugfest, Klitschko was uncertain if this was his last time inside a boxing ring.
"I'll be back on the July 8 Copper Box show headlined by Billy Joe Saunders".
"It didn't slip away - I just couldn't be bothered no more".
"Joshua is still just a baby with 19 fights, it took me 28 fights to become world champion".
Then he said "I'm going to knock you out", and I said 'I'm deadly serious!'
Fury insists that April 18 has already been pencilled in as a speculative date for a fight between the two, although this claim is somewhat questionable given that that particular date falls on a Wednesday, with most bouts of this magnitude traditionally taking place on a Friday or Saturday.
