We all know that fake followers do nothing for your reach or engagement but simply boost your numbers and make you appear more popular than you are.In our audit, we found that most of the new followers that Trump is received are people with no names (or dictionary word names) and a number appended. And by "growing", we mean he is gaining hundreds of new followers every minute. Trump produced five Twitter posts on his personal account and none on the official one as of early Tuesday afternoon.
By comparison, 79 percent of Barack Obama's almost 90 million Twitter followers, 93 percent of the vice president's almost 2 million followers, and 61 percent of Hillary Clinton 15.7 million followers are real. A relatively very high 88 percent of her followers are real, amounting to over 74 million people and putting her comfortably on top, considering the fifth-most followed celebrity on Twitter, Rihanna, has a total of 73.3 million followers.
But the real issue with the president and Twitter - that is, in addition to his actual tweets - is the thousands of fake accounts the president now has, many being added in just the past few days. It's unclear if trumps followers on other social platforms have also increased in this way. The comedian Joe Mande now has a healthy 1.01 million followers, but his bio contains a caveat: "twitter is trash, facebook's the devil, i bought a million followers for like $400 none of this shit matters antarctica is melting".
Delay in court case deepens health insurance uncertainty
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi complained the delay exacerbates "uncertainty in the health coverage of millions of Americans". The payments help to offset costs incurred by insurers to provide low-income Americans with affordable healthcare coverage.
In case you're wondering, 79 percent of Obama's followers are real.
What is unusual is the percentage of his new followers that appear to be bots. Having bots follow these accounts allows them to appear, to the untrained eye, just like new users who maybe haven't gotten around to uploading a profile picture. Here, he speaks during a joint news conference with German Chancellor Angela Merkel at the Chancellery in Berlin, May 30, 2017. But if you check Twitter this morning, you will notice that "covfefe" is the top hashtag (at least top unpaid hashtag). This score is based on the number of tweets, date of the last tweet and ratio of followers to friends. Social media followers are usually seen as a sign of popularity or societal importance.
