Venkatesh Prasad denies applying for Team India head coach post

The speed gun, who represented India in 33 Tests and 162 ODIs, had applied for the post in 2016, but he did not make the final list.
Notably, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has extended the deadline for applying for the coaching role until July 9, saying it wanted a broader pool of candidates to choose from. "Whether it's (Virender) Sehwag or Ravi Shastri or whoever it is, I am very very keen to be associated as an assistant coach or a bowling coach which I have done before".
"I have not applied for the head coach's role yet and might not do so before the deadline".
Kumble enjoyed overwhelming success during his tenure but due to tussle with skipper Virat Kohli, he made a decision to step down and didn't apply for an extension.

As reported by TOI, Prasad confirmed that he was applying for the position after the legendary leggie stepped down from the post in the wake of India's Champions Trophy final defeat to arch-rivals Pakistan.

Among the applicants, the most recent inclusion is former Team Director Ravi Shastri.
Shastri was part of the team from 2014 to 2016 as a Team Director. He said, "May be I will write, but this is what I am very keen about (the support staff job)".
