Venkatesh Prasad denies applying for Team India head coach post

The speed gun, who represented India in 33 Tests and 162 ODIs, had applied for the post in 2016, but he did not make the final list.

Notably, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has extended the deadline for applying for the coaching role until July 9, saying it wanted a broader pool of candidates to choose from. "Whether it's (Virender) Sehwag or Ravi Shastri or whoever it is, I am very very keen to be associated as an assistant coach or a bowling coach which I have done before".

"I have not applied for the head coach's role yet and might not do so before the deadline".

Kumble enjoyed overwhelming success during his tenure but due to tussle with skipper Virat Kohli, he made a decision to step down and didn't apply for an extension.

Former Indian cricketer Lalchand Rajput, Dodda Ganesh, Richard Pybus and Tom Moody and former Indian opener Virender Sehwag have all applied for the post.

Qatar Airways eyes investment in American Airlines
The announcement comes months after Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway (BRKB) has built up stakes in the top USA airlines. President Donald Trump has accused Qatar, home to a massive and strategic USA military base, of funding terrorism.

As reported by TOI, Prasad confirmed that he was applying for the position after the legendary leggie stepped down from the post in the wake of India's Champions Trophy final defeat to arch-rivals Pakistan.

However, it is learnt that Prasad is instead interested for the post of assistant coach or a bowling coach.

With the very saddening events that took place between skipper Virat Kohli and former coach Anil Kumble, what Team India is going through is well known to everyone now, this head coach crisis is one very crucial issue that must be tackled as fast as possible. The cricket world is aware of the good relationship that Ravi Shastri has with Virat Kohli. However, the former India paceman hasn't officially given his name for the job of the head coach but wishes to join the team in the capacity of a bowling or assistant coach.

Among the applicants, the most recent inclusion is former Team Director Ravi Shastri.

Shastri was part of the team from 2014 to 2016 as a Team Director. He said, "May be I will write, but this is what I am very keen about (the support staff job)".
