How to watch Venus Williams vs. Johanna Konta

The 37-year-old American, on course to become the oldest women's champion at the Major, demolished home favourite Johanna Konta 6-4, 6-2 in a one-side match.

Konta began the day bidding to become Britain's first finalist in the women's singles for 40 years but Venus Williams turned in a display of gutsy serving to end her hopes.

Muguruza won the first five games of the first set, facing only one break point and saving it.

Victory helped Williams reach her ninth Wimbledon final and first since 2009, a year after she won at the All England Club for the most recent of her seven Grand Slam titles.

Should she continue that run with a win on Centre Court tomorrow she will guarantee herself at least £1.1m in prize money - the largest paycheque of her career to date.

Konta was playing only her second grand slam semi-final, having reached the last four at the Australian Open a year ago, while Williams was into her 22nd.

"They're definitely here with me, for sure", Williams said.

The American broke Konta in the final game of the first set, and then broke for the third time in the final game of the match. Later, Rohan Bopanna and Gabriela Dabrowksi play Henri Kontinen and Heather Watson in the mixed doubles quarter finals. "I just have to be more relaxed and (have) more belief in myself". I'd like to think that I'm doing the same. "It's going to be a historic final again", she said.

Wade was happy to see her record go, saying: "I'm just surprised it's taken so long. I will only ever try to do that in a positive way". Serena was 35-plus when she won the title previous year.

"I think it's a part of sport, the crowd getting excited and getting sometimes a little too involved", Konta said.

"I couldn't have asked for more but I'll ask for more".

Konta leads Williams 3-2 in head-to-head meetings but the two haven't clashed before on grass. Williams in stark contrast settled quickly on her 21st outing in the last four of a major and after dismissing an early scare never looked back in pursuit of a berth in the final.

"I was in just as much of a shot of winning this tournament here". On Konta's potential, Williams added: "She played an wonderful tournament".
