Man Proposes To His Girlfriend While Being Arrested

The officers agreed to Thompson's request, watching (and filming) as he got down on one knee.

For Thompson, this already unique day was capped by officers showing up to arrest him on felony warrants, News WKRG reports.

A couple in Oklahoma didn't let a pair of handcuffs stop them from getting engaged.

The arresting officers ― who cuffed Thompson while he was celebrating not only Independence Day, but also his birthday ― took pity on him.

Brandon Thompson was being arrested at his Muskogee, Oklahoma, home on July 4 when he chose to express his genuine feelings to the love of his life.

Lincoln Anderson, a spokesman for Muskogee police, said the department hopes his pending nuptials will provide a steady foundation for reconstructing his life. Nevertheless, she said yes and later bailed Thompson out after his arrest.

Birdstrike causes AirAsia flight midair emergency
The aircraft, registered 9M-XXT (MSN 1549), was operating flight D7207 from Gold Coast to Kuala Lumpur when the incident happened. Controversially, passengers on that flight recalled being told to "Say a prayer" as they attempted to return safely.

Thompson's girlfriend, Leandria Keith, accepted his proposal, telling NewsOn6: "Oh my gosh is he serious?"

When Keith agrees, an officer can be seen switching Thompson's handcuffs from the back to the front so he can place the engagement ring on her finger. Thompson's new fiancée celebrated by bailing him out of jail.

"Hopefully it will help him make the choices it will take to support his future wife and his kids", Anderson told CNN. He was released the day after his arrest. They told CNN they will set a date for their wedding once Thompson's legal troubles are resolved.

The officers present on the scene were surprised with Mr Thompson's request but allowed him to go ahead with the proposal.

He is scheduled to appear in court on July 17.
