LG V30 is waterproof with an IP68 rating

Until now, the lowest aperture number was flaunted by Samsung Galaxy S8 and Note 8 (f/1.7 aperture). LG is yet to announce the pricing for the device, but the smartphone will go up against the likes of iPhone 8 and Galaxy Note 8.

The V30 is coming out in South Korea first, on 21 September. The latest LG flagship sports a 6-inch OLED FullVision display with 1440 x 2880 Quad HD+ resolution and 18:9 aspect ratio.

Consequently, it was hard for many reviewers, us included, to recommend the LG G6 in spite of its many other admirable qualities; the simple fact was that it was using last year's tech in a brand new flagship.

Pre-orders of the LG V30 have yet to start, but there are some great selling points belonging to the smartphone.

In terms of aesthetics, the V30 features a six inch OLED FullVision display, and weighs just 158g - the lightest 6-inch smartphone on the market.

Like previous year and any of its recent flagship phones, the South Korean company is keeping up with the dual-lens camera trend. With a large aperture, more light can hit the image sensor leading to better image quality. However, to compensate for it, LG has introduced a floating bar and Always On Display (AOD) functionality. LG claims that the voice recognition will work even if music is being played on the device.

Beware! Sarahah Breaches Anonymity, Uploads Private Contact Information
That's a pretty clear case of an app that can, and probably does, compromise your Contacts and the anonymity of everyone you know. For those who have installed Sarahah but no longer wish to share their data, head over to settings apps and select the app.

The LG V20 and LG G6 have some awesome features aimed at audiophiles - and so is the LG V30. The smartphone also has support for Master Quality Authenticated (MQA) technology for high-resolution audio streaming.

Successor to the LG V20, which was the first non-Google phone to run Android Nougat, the LG V30 was announced this morning in Berlin at the IFA tradeshow. The V30 features an "advanced" version of that DAC. LG has so far stayed clear of using an OLED panel (not strictly though as the forgettable G Flex 2 did house one) but all this changes now with the V30.

Also, the premium device is water-and-dust resistant with IP68 certification and comes with fingerprint scanner at the back. In the front, there is a wide-angle 5MP camera for selfies. "The V30's recording capability is upgraded as well, with a receiver that doubles as a microphone to capture a broader sound spectrum, from gentle chimes to thunderous drums", LG elaborates on its website. The camera unit comes equipped with a Crystal Glass Lens which is expected to deliver better and more accurate colors as opposed to a plastic lens.

Cine Effect makes the video shot through the LG V30's cameras look like Hollywood movies through its professional grade color filters and presets.

The phone is being released in some unique colours; aurora black, cloud silver, moroccan blue, and lavender violet. At the moment, you can grab the V20 at a price of Ksh 49,999, which is still a decent deal.

LG has added 22 stock wallpapers to the LG V30 to show off its brand new display. Quick Video Editor makes it easy for the users edit and share videos.
