Liverpool's Jurgen Klopp had watched Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain 'for 3 years'

After months of speculation, and a late push by Chelsea to secure the midfielder's signature, Liverpool have officially announced the signing of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in a £35 million deal.

Oxlade-Chamberlain becomes Liverpool's fourth signing of the summer following the arrivals of Mohamed Salah, Dominic Solanke and Andrew Robertson.

At midday today, the Merseysiders announced the signing of Alex Oxlade-Chambarlain, who joins on a long-term contract from Arsenal. I'm here with England and we've got two big games coming up, so I want to focus on them.

Having played 130 times in the Premier League in seven years at the Emirates, with many of those performances coming off the bench, the England worldwide is obviously hoping for first team football.

The versatile midfielder is reported to have rejected the chance to move to Premier League champions Chelsea in favour of a move to Liverpool.

Is he even going to be a regular first team player? I think everyone seems to be eulogising over Oxlade-Chamberlain in this last 24 hours, (but) he doesn't get into their best XI.

Nest unveils affordable connected thermostat
The rumor mill has been buzzing for a while now about a new, more affordable Nest Thermostat - and sure enough: it's now official. Dubbed the Thermostat E , the new piece is similar to its predecessor, but it comes with a lower price tag.

However, Liverpool boss Klopp was quick to highlight Oxlade-Chamberlain's versatility but refused to assign the new signing to one position.

In addition, Adam Lallana and Barcelona target Philippe Coutinho are still to return from injury and Carragher, while agreeing the 24-year-old adds depth, can not see him getting into the team in that spot.

And finally, Gary Neville - the former Manchester United right-back - reacted with a cheeky dig...

Teams aren't built around wing-backs, though, and Oxlade-Chamberlain thinks he can find a more prominent role in central midfield at Anfield.

"But I can't wait to get to Melwood and you'll hear first from me on LFCTV".

"Not only have we lost a great player we've lost a great guy in the changing room and It is sad to see you go mate. I welcome him to the Liverpool family". "But Liverpool will take him out of his comfort zone".
