Trump Considering Fourth of July Military Parade

People don't know what great warriors they are in France, but when you see that and you see all the victories, it was a tremendous thing.

Macron tried to convince him to change his mind during Trump's July visit to Paris.

In remarks during a meeting with President Emmanuel Macron of France at the United Nations, Mr. Trump said he got the idea after watching the Bastille Day parade in Paris with Mr. Macron in July.

"Being a great president has to do with a lot of things, but one of them is being a great cheerleader for the country", Trump said in January.

"And to a large extent, because of what I witnessed, we may do something like that on July 4th in Washington, down Pennsylvania Avenue", Trump said. "That doesn't mean we agree on everything, but we do agree on a lot of things". "We're actually thinking about 4th of July, Pennsylvania Avenue, having a really great parade to show our military strength".

Tropical Storm Katia Weakens As It Enters Mexico
Katia made landfall north of Tecolutla, Mexico late Friday as a Category 1 hurricane with winds of 75 miles per hour (120 kph). To the east, Hurricane Jose , a Category 4 storm, was following behind, threatening further damage in Irma's wake.

He pitched the idea to French President Emmanuel Macron, saying that he thought the Bastille Day parade was an impressive display of France's military. Trump was the VIP guest on the French president's viewing stand for a parade of French military troops and equipment. "I don't know. We're gonna have to try and top it, but we had a lot of planes going over and a lot of military might, and it was really a lovely thing to see".

A Huffington Post report from March revealed that Trump's inaugural committee was "seriously considering adding military vehicles to the Inaugural Parade".

"That military may come marching down Pennsylvania Avenue", he said then.

"I deplore the USA decision, and I continue dialogue with President Trump because I am convinced that in the end he will see that it is in the interest of Americans to be a part of the Paris climate pact". Plenty of non-authoritarian states have military parades, including the United States in the past.

Trump said he was so impressed by the military parade in France that he would like to recreate it in Washington.
