Sarfraz Ahmed accepts Sri Lanka as better side after Test series defeat

Earlier, Lanka squandered a chance to pile up more runs in their second innings after taking a big first innings lead and gave Pakistan a faint hope of fancying their chances of a victory.

Sri Lanka bowling coach Rumesh Ratnayake is afraid of Pakistan due to the element of unpredictability that they are known for. Dilruwan Perera got the first breakthrough of the day for the visitors dismissing Sarfraz Ahmed (68).

Sri Lanka captain Dinesh Chandimal said he and his team were "over the moon" after securing a Test series victory against Pakistan after winning the second and final game in Dubai on Tuesday.

Much like the Day Night Test in Australia where Pakistan nearly chased down a mammoth target batting fourth, Asad Shafiq featured in yet another heroic effort to give a glimpse of hope for his country to overhaul the total.

It was tough on Shafiq to finish on the losing side, the batsman hitting his first ball of the day for four to bring up the 150 partnership and see his team past the 200 mark.

Naitland-Miles nearly created a third when Wilshere found him on the left and only a last-ditch interception prevented Giroud from tapping in.

With the injury to Mohammad Amir, the likes of Mohammad Abbas and Wahab Riaz had to shoulder the extra responsibility to help their teams cause. This was my first series as captain and it was pretty tough. Thanks to the selectors again for giving us confidence. Between Pakistan collapses, in which they lost 5 wickets for 52 runs and later 5 further wickets for 23, there was a 173-run partnership through which Sri Lanka had to hold their nerve.

Rangana Herath then proceeded to take out Yasir Shah for five runs before Suranga Lakmal removed Shafiq for 112, which came off 176 deliveries and included 10 boundaries. He took five-fers in each of three Tests in the Caribbean earlier this year as well in both matches this series. We lacked in our batting, we didn't play any long innings, didn't capitalize on good starts.

"The boys executed the game plan really well in this series".

"Test captaincy is a little hard and I've learnt a lot", Sarfraz said. They made their first innings bigger so that team Pakistan faced trouble in second batting. "We did not expect dew will come, but last night it was there", Chandimal said.

Both of them batted at a snail's pace which put Pakistan under pressure. "You could say we've played and won with two spinners here before but, at the moment, we felt our fast bowling was more experienced", he said.
