Apple HomePod Delayed To 2018

The company says that it needs more time to work on the smart speaker.

“We cant wait for people to experience HomePod, Apples breakthrough wireless speaker for the home, but we need a little more time before its ready for our customers, ” Apple spokeswoman Trudy Muller said.

The spokesperson told The Verge the device will ship to the US, United Kingdom, and Australia in early 2018.

The delay means Apple will miss the key holiday shopping season in the fast-growing segment of connected speakers.

In 2016, the company held off on releasing its AirPods wireless earphones for two months, also claiming they "needed a little more time" to be ready for a consumer launch.

Other media sources are jumping on the report to say it's a sign Mueller "is closing in on the White House". Flynn did not register with the US Justice Department as a foreign agent until March 2017.


HomePod is Apple's answer to Amazon Echo and Google Home.

However, given the brand loyalty of many Apple fans, it's likely many eyeing the HomePod speaker will practice patience and wait for the perfected product to land.

Powered by Apple´s Siri digital assistant, HomePod is priced starting at $349, at the high end of the market, and is designed with high-quality audio to pair with the Apple Music subscription service. Or is your cash going elsewhere?

The Homepod is a cylindrical smart speaker that features seven-speaker arrayu of tweeters, a four-inch subwoofer, and a six-microphone array. Amazon created Alexa for the Echo, and the virtual assistant has gone on to be the big breakout tech star of 2017. HomePod will be a while before we see it on sale and available to the public.
