Multiple shootings kill 3, wound multiple students at school

The shooting happened at or near an elementary school in Rancho Tehama around 8:00 am. local time.

"I don't know how many victims; I know of at least three deaths", Johnston said. An Action News Now reporter later said five people died.

At least seven people have been hurt, including two children.

"The insane thing is that the neighbor has been shooting a lot of bullets lately, hundreds of rounds, large magazines", Flint said.

Jeanine Quist, an admin assistant with the Corning Union Elementary School District, said no one was killed at the school but a "number" of students were shot and wounded.

"We made it aware that this guy has been insane, and he's been threatening us and everything".

The shooter was shot and cleared by police. Tello said he was about three blocks from the school when bullets made "big holes" in the truck in front of him.

The officer then hits her in the head with his right fist, causing the woman to crumble as she is carried out of camera range. When he arrived, Ross found 30-year-old Bridget Freitas arguing with other fans and "using profanity".

Ferreira said he ran into a classroom with 14 students.

Once inside a classroom, Ferreira said he heard gunfire for over 20 minutes and a student in the room was struck. Ferreria said a young boy was shot in the foot and the chest.

"I have the right to bear arms, and I will protect my son if I have to", she said. That child was also conscious.

The roommates lived close to the gunman, and he said that the gunman was firing off rounds. He saw one of them, a man in his 30's-40's dressed in green camo running away from the school after the shooting.

Some 100 law enforcement officers responded to the shooting, and students at the school have been safely evacuated, he added.

This is a developing story.
