Oklahoma Daughter Sentenced After Admitting to Marrying Her Mom

She and her mom Patricia, 44, married in Lawton, Oklahoma in March 2016.

Their incestuous marriage was discovered by authorities during a child welfare investigation, the Associated Press reported.

Patricia Spann insisted to investigators she didn't have contact with her kids until a few years ago.

A Duncan woman who married her biological mother last year received a 10-year deferred sentence Tuesday after pleading guilty in Stephens County to committing incest. The young woman claimed Patricia told her she had received legal advice about whether they could get hitched and assured Misty it could happen.

The mother told the DHS worker she "had looked into it" and felt no laws had been violated "because her name was no longer listed on Misty's birth certificate", police reported.

Incest in Oklahoma is a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison.

The mother, who reportedly was once married to her biological son as well, is set to appear in court in January 2018 to face her charges.

The marriage was annulled October 12 after Misty filed for an annulment "by reason of illegality and fraud", She said her mother told her she had received legal advice indicating that their marriage was legal because Patricia's name was no longer on Misty's birth certificate.

"I think she's worthless she put my sister into this. She forced my sister into this, there's a lot of people that know it", he said.
