The United Nations Security Council is set to meet later this month to discuss North Korea's nuclear programme after the reclusive country tested an intercontinental ballistic missile capable of reaching anywhere in the continental U.S. earlier this week.
The drill, dubbed "Vigilant Ace", will take place from Monday to Friday, and feature F-22 stealth fighters and F-35 aircraft.
North Korea held mass celebrations for its latest successful long-range missile test, Pyongyang's state media said Saturday, with the regimen accusing Washington of "begging for nuclear war" over planned military drills, AFP reports.
North Korea's comments mirror a statement KCNA made last month, saying Washington is seeking to ignite a nuclear war after US B-1B nuclear strategic bombers stationed in Guam flew into South Korea to stage a drill.
The potential for war is increasing every day but armed conflict is not the only solution, he told a defence forum.
Commenting that the planned manoeuvre would be the "largest-ever" such drill, a spokesman for the North's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement Saturday: "The Trump team is begging for nuclear war by staging an extremely risky nuclear gamble on the Korean peninsula".
The latest test of a new North Korean intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) is a provocative act, Russian Federation said on Wednesday, calling on all sides involved to stay calm to avoid a clash.

Germany, Mexico, Sweden and South Korea have group F to prove themselves. " Argentina we know them, they are a very good team". It had an impressive run to World Cup qualification, beating notable teams like Croatia , Ukraine, and Turkey.
The missile is said to have flown almost 2,800 miles high and for a distance of more than 600 miles.
The Rodong Sinmun commentary said the aerial wargames show "the enemies' moves to start a nuclear war have reached a risky stage".
North Korea, meanwhile, has been on a tear, undeterred by global pressure.
"The US and South Korean puppet warmongers would be well advised to bear in mind that their DPRK-targeted military drill will be as foolish as an act precipitating their self-destruction", it said.
"We are in a race to be able to solve this problem", Mr McMaster said.
It is likely the ballistic missile, fired higher than any previous North Korean missile, broke up as it re-entered Earth's atmosphere, the official said. Every missile test, every underground test of a nuclear weapon, means the marriage is more likely.
