Plane crash in San Diego neighborhood led to deaths of 2 people

The plane and back of the house were engulfed in flames by then and no rescue was possible of two people trapped in the aircraft, the fire chief said. Authorities searched the residence and did not find anyone inside, officials said, and the fire has been put out.

The huge cloud of smoke from the fire could be seen from miles away.

The pilot and a passenger were being taken to a hospital with unknown injuries.

Wade Treadwell, who lives on the street, said he was playing in a nearby park with his grandchildren when he heard a plane's engine sputter.

According to the report, the plane's engine stalled, sending it into the home.

Another neighbor, Abe Bejjani, told The Tribune that he was watching TV when he heard an explosion he thought was a propane tank blowing up.
