Everton boss Allardyce makes worrying admission about Barkley

CHELSEA ARE CONFIDENT they can secure a £15 million move for Everton midfielder Ross Barkley during this month's transfer window, with reports suggesting he will have a medical this afternoon.

Chelsea are about to land Ross Barkley at the cut-rate price of €17 million.

"If this gamble is correct, it looks like Ross Barkley will finally get his move to Chelsea this month where he'll be hoping a fresh start can help him break back into the England squad", said Coral's John Hill.

New boss Sam Allardyce has always been resigned to the playmaker's departure and Tottenham were expected to rival Chelsea for Barkley.

Yet the 24-year-old, nearing a return to fitness, is now expected to complete a move to Chelsea who have not dropped their interest in him. The prolific playmaker for the Toffees is yet to play his first game in the Premier League after recovering from hamstring surgery which was followed by another injury during training.

Barkley's exit will bring an end to his association with Everton, the club he joined as an 11-year-old and represented more than 150 times.

Barkley was out of contract at the end of the season, and could have left Everton on a free transfer.

The England worldwide claimed he wanted a new challenge and there was reported interest in him from Tottenham Hotspur as well as the reigning Premier League champions.
