Irish minimum wage will go up by 30c on New Year's Day

1, 2018, most people who work for a private employer in NY will be eligible for eight weeks of paid family leave. It will reach $15 an hour on July 1, 2021.
Alex Harris, 21, who is responsible for paying most of his family's bills on a minimum wage income, says the raise will do little to help, but at least it's a start.
"The minimum wage increase, new paid family leave requirements and the state's proposed employee scheduling regulations are concerning to employers in the area", he said. Tipped employees must be paid at least $5 an hour by employers.
Workers in Long Island will have a minimum wage bump to $11/an hour. Cuomo estimates more than 2.3 million people will benefit from the wage increase.
The statewide minimum wage will increase to $15 an hour for other workers, but on a different schedule than the one established for fast-food employees. The increases were spread out over a few years to give businesses time to adjust.

Whether it's five cents, as in 2017 or the fifteen cents for 2018, minimum wage workers will use what they can make to help them in their quest for making a decent living.
