Trump postpones his fake "Fake News Awards"

As you can see in the tweet above, the president is citing interest that "is far greater than anyone could have anticipated" as a possible reason for the date change. "Stay tuned!", he wrote.

He added: "Subjects will cover Dishonesty and Bad Reporting in various categories from the Fake News Media".

Colbert's entry, styled like a movie poster, enters all "categories" including "fakest dishonesty", "corruptest fakeness", and "smallest button", in reference to Trump's Tuesday tweet that his "nuclear button" is bigger and more powerful than North Korean leader Kim Jong Un's.

"Jake Tapper of Fake News CNN just got destroyed in his interview with Stephen Miller of the Trump Administration".

Late night hosts took advantage of Trump's latest invention to poke fun at the president - and put themselves up for the honor, of course.

Trump has regularly slammed the coverage of his campaign and time in the White House.

After the advert was released, The Daily Show's official Twitter account poked fun at Trump's literacy, saying: "Hey @realDonaldTrump, show them you're not semiliterate!"

Mr Trump's awards have been met with widespread mirth with U.S. talk show hosts offering themselves up for consideration for the awards.

This comes after Stephen Colbert, host of CBS's The Late Show, revealed his show purchased a billboard in Times Square, announcing their nomination.

The ad includes a photo of Trevor as well as some quotes calling the show "monotonous ... liberal dogma" and "a fake news show".
