Former Royals 1B Hosmer agrees to deal with Padres

Hosmer will make $105 million in the first five years.

Hosmer played a key role in helping the Royals reach the World Series in both 2014 and 2015, with the latter trip resulting in a championship.

Hosmer and the Royals couldn't come to terms on an extension, though.

Despite Hosmer being one of the top free agents available, there appeared to be limited interest in him over the winter. He won four Gold Gloves at his position and won the 2017 Silver Slugger award. I don't play this game to be in commercials for hair products. He crushed the ball in limited action after being promoted to the majors in 2016, and he hit 26 home runs in 122 games last season for San Diego. But by 2013, the Royals improved to 86-76, finishing above.500 for the first time since 2003 and with fewer than 79 losses for the first time since they were 70-74 in 1995. He may not be J.D. Martinez but Hosmer is loved around the baseball world for his leadership and intangibles.

Barcelona Looking to Get Back to Winning Ways
Vukasin Jovanovic (knee), Pedro Leon (knee), Paulo Oliveira (muscle) and Fran Rico (knee) have all been ruled out. Thomas Vermaelen (muscular), Sergi Samper (ankle) and Adrian Ortola (thigh) have been ruled out of this game.

Hosmer already has a track record of success at his new home confines. Not only that, but Hosmer would win the All-Star MVP that year.

The Royals have lost two of their three prized free agents with center fielder Lorenzo Cain signing with the Brewers and Hosmer now with the Padres.

"If you add a player like that, you're obviously accelerating the process", Myers told reporters at Padres' camp in Peoria, Ariz. It also doesn't hurt he is coming off the best season of his career, batting.318 and getting on base at a.385 clip.
