Golfer Haas injured in car accident with actor Luke Wilson, driver killed

Luke Wilson and pro golfer Bill Haas were involved in a auto crash in Los Angeles that left one person dead and two injured, including Haas, on Tuesday night, February 13.

Hass was a passenger in the Ferrari and escaped serious injury while Wilson, who was driving a vehicle clipped by the Ferrari, was not injured, officials said today.

Mark Gibello, 71, of Pacific Palisades died at the scene, the coroner's office reported.

As for the one fatality in the wreck - the driver of the Ferrari - Heirigs says he overheard the man's wife tell authorities Haas was a friend from out of town, whom her husband wanted to take for a spin.

Haas is expected to make a full recovery, but has withdrawn from the Genesis Open.

Golf's PGA Tour said Haas had been staying with the Ferrari driver ahead of this week's Genesis Open at nearby Riviera Country Club, which he will now withdraw from.

Haas, who had been in the passenger seat of a Ferrari, had pain and swelling in his legs, but no broken bones and is returning home to SC to recuperate.

Police said Wilson's Toyota was clipped at about 6.30pm on Tuesday by a Ferrari that Haas, 35, was travelling in as a passenger. While Wilson was uninjured, the driver of the Ferrari was killed.

Mashal Khan: death sentence for Pakistan blasphemy murder
Announcing the verdict in Mashal Khan Lynching case, the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Haripur sentenced accused Imran to death. Rumours spread in April a year ago that he had posted blasphemous material online, a crime punishable by death in Pakistan.

A witness posted on Twitter that he and Wilson helped the injured out of their vehicles.

Haas won pro golf's FedEx Cup championship in 2011. Actor Luke Wilson was also involved in the crash, but was uninjured.

Meanwhile, Detective Jeff Fischer from LAPD said that Haas is "doing Ok" now.

Haas was taken to hospital but later released having escaped serious injury.

A 50-year-old woman was also injured and transported to a local hospital in serious condition, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. Wilson was not hurt.

A message seeking comment wasn't immediately returned by a representative for Wilson, the 46-year-old Dallas-native and star of films including "Legally Blonde", "Idiocracy" and "The Royal Tenenbaums".

Although Wilson and Heirigs escaped the vehicle crash unharmed, the unidentified woman is seriously injured and she has been admitted to a hospital, reported Daily Mail.
