Lindsey Vonn confirms Pyeongchang will be final Olympics, will enter three races

Vonn, 33, enters the Games on a winning streak having finished first in her last two World Cup races.

Vonn smiled and kidded around for much of the half-hour Q-and-A, but her mood changed when she was asked about her grandfather, Don Kildow, who died in November.

She paused before adding: "Yeah, I just want so badly to do well for him and". I would like to win.

"I wish you hadn't said it because it's really hard for me not to cry".

"My grandfather taught my father how to ski".

Vonn missed the Sochi Olympics because of a knee injury, and struggled for much of last season after breaking her arm and suffering nerve damage in her hand.

"I was skiing really well, so I thought, 'Oh, everything's fine.' But I wasn't able to keep my mental focus until the finish, which is something that I actually pride myself on being really good at, normally".

"Because of the schedule and because it's my last Olympics, it's very important to me to attend", she said, "and I'm going to get as much of the Olympic experience in these next two weeks as possible". "And I really hoped he'd be alive to see me but I know he's watching and I know that he's going to help me. And".

A technical skiing prodigy who has also shown in recent years that she can win in speed events, Shiffrin said she will compete in slalom and giant slalom and will leave decisions about super-G, downhill and the combined for later. She won a bronze in that event at Vancouver in 2010 and a gold in the downhill.

Soldiers Killed & 1 Injured in Pak's Ceasefire Violation in J&K
He was killed in unprovoked firing by Pakistani Rangers in J&K's Rajouri district on January 13. Of the total ceasefire violations, 379 took place in 2017, 233 in 2016 and 222 in 2015.

"I know, like, it's a comparison between sports, and I don't think there's a sport in the Winter Olympics where you can even win 23 medals across three or four Olympics, but, yeah, I could never imagine myself even in the same sentence as Michael Phelps", she said.

Vonn said she was fortunate early in her career not to suffer many injuries, but "these last few years have really dinged me up".

Shiffrin is unsure just which events she will compete in at the 2018 Olympics, saying it will depend on her fitness.

It's a dog. That's way better than lugging around Tiger Woods in your Vonn-tourage, don't you think? "I am just going to lay it all out there", she said.

In the most human of ways, world-class athletes are not so different than you or me. I think next year I can get beyond that. "I am skiing exceptionally well; I have a lot of confidence". "All those things that are kind of part of who I am sort of disappear".

"I'm of Norwegian descent and so I feel like I'm pseudo team member of the Norwegian team".

"It's the Olympics, getting sixth place doesn't do a whole lot of good here", Miller said. She enjoys sleeping the majority of the day.

Even donned the gloves for her flight to South Korea. Linsdey Vonn has been an Olympian since she was a teenager.

"She is usually in the hotel room whenever I'm racing".
