In the meanwhile, details on what the update will include have been revealed. The update, codenamed KEIJI, mostly focuses on improved user experience features and a new Play Time Management features.
Sony will be introducing "Play Time Management" with update 5.50.
Play Time Management allows adults that have guardian privileges on the system to set time limits on how long children can play the console. From here, you can check and manage your child's playtime. The system is set up to notify your child during gameplay so that he/she knows when they should save and quit. "In addition, the family manager/guardians can choose whether or not to automatically log the child out of their PS4 once their playtime is over".
One of the main changes with the PS4 5.50 update is that the game Library has now been divided into two different areas.
That's on top of new Library tabs that make it easier to see which apps you've installed and own. Designed for gaming, the headset was a affordable option, and came with a few PlayStation specific goodies via the Headset Companion app on PS4. When selected, the former will list all the applications installed on the overall system, while the latter will list the applications you purchased on your personal PSN ID. There will also be a "PS Plus" tab that sorts out which games have been acquired by simply subscribing to the service, with lapsed players seeing a locked icon until their re-subscription. If your membership has expired, you'll see a lock next to it, until you've resubscribed. They can do so via the pulldown menu under the Friends tab in Quick Menu.
Upcoming Update Features PS4 Supersampling Mode
With the launch of 5.50, you'll be able to access custom friends' lists directly from the Quick Menu. This also shows which friends are now online.
If you're using Spotify on PlayStation Music, the "square" button will serve as the shortcut for volume control. As an added benefit, gamers can hit the "triangle" button to play and pause music entirely for the Media Player. Once the image has been imported from USB, users can zoom, crop and preview them. This is accomplished via a new USB storage device option on the Themes area of the Settings menu.

Previously, we had gotten word of a PS4 Pro supersampling feature that will allow users without a 4K TV to see their games rendered at a higher resolution that is then downscaled to the resolution of their TV's display. Similar to what's offered through certain games with PS4 Pro enhancements, the new setting allows supersampling to be utilized for more games. Sony notes that not all games will get better image quality when Supersampling Mode is enabled.
