Rodney Hood: What the shooting guard brings to the Cavaliers

As first reported by ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, the Cavs will receive Rodney Hood from Utah and George Hill from Sacramento.

The trade comes less than an hour after the Cavs swapped Isaiah Thomas, Channing Frye and their protected 2018 first-round draft pick to the Los Angeles Lakers for Jordan Clarkson and Larry Nance Jr.

One interesting aspect of the blockbuster trade that sent Rodney Hood to Cleveland was that Derrick Rose got moved over to Utah.

Zach LaVine scores season-high 27 points in Bulls' loss to Kings
The Bulls would only get as close as three points the rest of the way as Sacramento snapped a two-game losing streak of their own. Zach LaVine , who finished with a season-high 27 points, pushed the lead back to 15 late in the first half with a dunk and foul.

Hill, whose ability to guard both positions in the backcourt could help the struggling Cavaliers' defense, had been unhappy with his role with the Kings, whom he signed with last summer after turning down a more lucrative extension offer with the Jazz. The Jazz will also reportedly send Joe Johnson to Sacramento.

The Utah Jazz will release point guard Derrick Rose, according to The Vertical's Shams Charania.

Rose, who as mentioned would be uniting with his old head coach, would also be uniting with former Bulls teammates Jimmy Butler and Taj Gibson. He is averaging 9.8 points, 1.6 assists and 1.8 rebounds per game. He has shown just that this season playing in both roles as he's now averaging a career-high 16.8 points on 42.4 percent shooting from the field and 38.9 percent from beyond the arc. He was mulling retirement earlier this season after suffering yet another injury.
