Giles was said to have developed an obsession with Mr Torney and according to the search warrant one note said: "I want Gavin Free to die alone with no children".
According to police, authorities received a call from Turney at around 3:40 a.m. on January 26 reporting that she and Free had been awoken by the sound of a gunshot and glass breaking.
Court documents state that "it was apparent that Giles' sole intent was to cause harm to someone". The driver, later identified as Christopher Eric Giles, opened fire on the police who fired back.
He drove 11 hours from his New Mexico home to Austin, to confront the couple.
An Albuquerque man who died in an officer-involved shooting after breaking into a Hyde Park home last month might have died from a self-inflicted gunshot and appears to have been trying to harm a couple who are internet celebrities, according to an Albuquerque police search warrant.
The couple hid in a closet and updated the 911 dispatcher as Giles, 23, rooted through their home looking for the pair.
Rodney Hood: What the shooting guard brings to the Cavaliers
One interesting aspect of the blockbuster trade that sent Rodney Hood to Cleveland was that Derrick Rose got moved over to Utah. As first reported by ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski , the Cavs will receive Rodney Hood from Utah and George Hill from Sacramento.
Free has since posted a tweet on behalf of himself and Turney expressing their gratitude to their hordes of fans and police in the aftermath of the attack. Free and another YouTuber run the channel The Slow Mo Guys, which has more than 10 million followers.
The officers found Giles backing out of the driveway in his Lincoln sedan with a New Mexico license plate and ordered him to stop.
"Notes on Giles" phone suggest he had "developed a fondness of Turney". Neither Turney nor Free responded to phone calls. When he couldn't locate them, Giles reportedly returned to his auto, but as he was backing out of the home's driveway, officers with the Austin Police Department arrived.
They also found evidence that Giles had been planning the "burglary and homicides of Megan Turney and Gavin Free" at his home.
A search warrant was served on Giles's apartment a couple of days after the incident occurred.
A search of Giles's home led to further evidence of his lonely, isolated existence, most of which was spent playing video-games and watching YouTube videos related to the same. I want to give a huge thanks to @Austin_Police for the fantastic response time.
