Google puts Mario on the map, literally

Yes, I admit, not any more of a stretch than Star Wars day, but Google maps have teamed up with Nintendo to add a few new dimension to the event.

A new update for Google Maps on iOS and Android is in the process of rolling out. Just "make sure to avoid sharing personal details like your home or work address (seriously, think before you post)", Dabas recommended.

From now onwards, Mario will accompany you in your trips.

It's a coloured-out '?' box from the Mario games.

UNC holds off Duke, 74-69
It's the second year in a row that the two have met in the ACC semifinals, with Duke upsetting North Carolina 93-83 last year. They've already taken two of three from rival Duke and won single games against Michigan, Tennessee, Ohio State and Clemson .

There is another Easter Egg hidden inside the update for Google Maps. Mario will be available for the next seven days, giving you plenty of time to see everyone's favorite plumber drive around real-world locations. You can update the app, look for the yellow question mark, then enable "Mario Time". Interestingly, the gamer holiday is celebrated on this particular day because of the way the date appears when abbreviated, that is "Mar.10" resembling Mario. - Let us know in the comments!

Google is encouraging users to take screenshots of their routes with Mario Time enabled and share them on Twitter and Instagram, tagging @GoogleMaps and using the #MarioMaps hashtag. Although the app is free to download, users have to pay $9.99 to unlock the full game with all of its additional levels and characters.

In the meantime, Google Maps and Mario will be here all week in celebration of Mario Kart, with the plumber fist-pumping his way through traffic.

Once you're on your way, you'll hear Mario say "Let's a go!" and the Google navigation arrow is transformed into Mario driving the iconic Mario Kart. He'll be a constant companion wherever you're driving this week.
