After his release, Mohammed confirmed to a reporter for Agence France-Presse, Joe Dyke, that he did tell Israeli interrogators - who accused him of taking part in the December protest they described as a "violent riot" - that his head injury was caused by falling from his bike.
Mordechai, the head of Israel's Coordination of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT), insisted that previously uncontested eyewitness reports in the Israeli, Palestinian and worldwide media that Mohammed had fallen to the ground after being shot in the head by an Israeli soldier were "fake news", and accused the Tamimi family of "a culture of lies and incitement".
Records from the boy's visit to the Istishari Hospital in Ramallah, released by the Tamimi family, contradict Mordechai's claim. "The Palestinian culture of falsehoods and incitement is relentless among the Tamimi family". What began as a far-fetched claim we are not a real family has descended into an attempt to deny documented reality.
Palestinian sources said Monday that Israeli occupation forces arrested 10 members of the Tamimi family from Nabi Saleh village during overnight raids throughout the West Bank.
On Monday, the Tamimi family lashed out at Mordechai and the Israeli government, saying there is "no limit to how low Israel is willing to sink in its attempt to discredit the Tamimis' just struggle for liberation against Israeli colonialism". Minutes after he was shot, his famous cousin Ahed Tamimi, 17, was filmed kicking and slapping Israeli soldiers who were on her family's property. She has since become a symbol of the Palestinian resistance.

Currently, Ahed Tamimi and her mother Nariman Tamimi, 42, were still in custody and undergoing military court trials.
Two years ago, her family made headlines when an Israeli soldier violently attempted to arrest her younger brother, who had one arm in a cast at the time.
Ahed is famous across Palestine and the Arab world for videos of her, since her childhood, defiantly resisting Israeli soldiers who clash with Palestinians in her village almost every week. "I could not keep quiet and I responded as I did".
Muhammad's injury required doctors to put him in a coma and remove a portion of his skull. He was released later in the day after being questioned under caution.
On Tuesday morning, Muhammad's family also released pictures of his x-ray as well as the bloodied bullet itself after it was removed from his skull.
