Policeman injured as militants attack BJP leader in Srinagar

The standoff began on Thursday evening when armed terrorists opened fire on the security guards of a BJP worker Anwar Khan at Balhama village, around 20 kilometers from Srinagar.

He said the body of another militant, believed to be a foreigner, was recovered from the debris of houses damaged during the encounter.

Incriminating materials, including arms and ammunition, were also recovered from their possession.

A case has been registered in this regard and investigations are on.

The Shia community of Balhama area of Khonmoh paid glowing tributes to two militants killed in a gun fight on Thursday in the area.

DIG of central Kashmir, V K Virdi told New Indian Express that two militants were killed in an overnight encounter with security forces in Balhama-Khunmoh area.

Indian troops on Friday martyred two more youth in Srinagar city of occupied Kashmir. The PSO identified as Bilal Ahmad suffered injuries in the incident.

A Chinese pistol, one magazine, five live rounds and Rs 10,000 were recovered from Mir's possession, the spokesman said.

Giving the details, he said the police party nabbed him when Bhat was trying to get some object out of his pocket.

A statement issued by the police here said that the militants had attacked the security men guarding the BJP activist while he was visiting Arsh Institute at Khonmoh.
