Tanks not included in plans for Trump's military parade

The parade will not include tanks but only wheeled vehicles, the memo stated.
It will close with a "heavy air component", which officials hope will include older planes.
The procession - meant to be a fearsome display of American military might - will roll down Pennsylvania Avenue from the Capital to the White House, according to a memo obtained by CNN that was sent by the Pentagon to the the Joint Chiefs of Staff chairman, giving initial guidance for the parade. Some had expressed doubts about tanks rolling through downtown Washington, D.C., raising fears about heavy machinery damaging roads.
The Joint Staff is in charge of organizing the event, while the Northern Command will execute it on the day of.
Trump wanted the parade after seeing troops march during the Bastille Day parade in France during his visit past year.
The idea for the show of military might apparently came after Trump visited France last July for Bastille Day celebrations. "We have a great country and we should be celebrating our country", he told Fox News Channel in a recent interview.
The planned route for the parade will be from the White House to the Capitol Building, which is 1.8 miles long.
