The FDA says the eggs can be found in stores and have also been distributed to restaurants in Colorado and the other affected states.
- Hundreds of millions of eggs are being voluntarily recalled due to possible salmonella contamination.
The agency learned about a cluster of salmonella outbreaks in multiple states last month, and investigators worked with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and state authorities to trace the source of the illness, the F.D.A. said.
Rose Acre Farms issued the recall on its own after a handful of reports of salmonella poising on the East coast surfaced. The F.D.A. urged consumers to check their purchases and avoid eating eggs that might be contaminated.
Salmonella can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections, especially in young children, the elderly, and those with weak immune systems. If you have questions, call Rose Acre Farms at 855-215-5730 between 8 a.m.to 5 p.m. EST.

The recall came about after the illnesses were reported and the FDA inspected the North Carolina farm.
The affected eggs, from plant number P-1065, have the Julian date range of 011 through date of 102 printed on either the side portion or the principal side of the carton or package.
The North Carolina facility has roughly 3 million hens who put out an average 2.3 million eggs each day, according to the FDA.
Otherwise healthy individuals infected can experience the following symptoms: fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain.
