KC Chiefs call Derrick Nnadi in 3rd round

Former Florida State defensive tackle Derrick Nnadi has been selected by the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2018 NFL Draft. The Chiefs did not have a choice in the first round.

Nnadi was selected in the third round by Kansas City with the 75th overall pick.

They filled a big one with a 6-foot-3, 285-pound edge rusher.

The club engineered a trade with the Cincinnati Bengals to select Speaks with the 14th selection of the second round. The Chiefs traded up for this pick.

Speaks started twice at defensive tackle as a freshman, then became a regular for the Rebels as a sophomore.

In previous seasons, Nnadi showed the ability to get after the passer a bit more, so perhaps the Chiefs like what they see overall in his body of work in terms of getting a disruptor. In 2017, he recorded 67 tackles (eight for loss) and seven sacks, which were all career-highs, primarily as a defensive end. Cornerback remains a priority, but wide receiver, tight end and offensive line could also be in the mix.
