Kevin De Bruyne tells Manchester City to turn focus to Champions League

Combining speed, guile, power and more speed, it has blown away opponents and redefined what anyone thought was possible in the English game.

After a mixed first season in England, Guardiola faced questions about whether his methods were a good fit for the Premier League. This has allowed City to execute their manager's game plan to play out from the back perfectly.

'The first time you win it, you think you'll win all of them, ' Kompany told Sky Sports.

But City, who will stage a title party when they host Swansea on Sunday, have a chance to underline their credentials over their last five matches. It is one title.

It's not just two games, it's about the course of the season and the quality football that City have played game after game.

Guardiola has won the title and Carabao Cup this season to add to the 21 trophies he lifted in four seasons at Barcelona and three years at Bayern Munich.

But Player of the Year nominee De Bruyne said they should forget about their disappointment and focus on their incredible season.

Former England worldwide Gary Lineker, who now works as a television presenter, tweeted: "Congratulations to @ManCity on winning the Premier League title". Central midfield is the most pressing concern, with Fernandinho needing a back-up or a foil in his important role as the anchorman behind playmakers Kevin De Bruyne and David Silva.

A year ago they suffered a 2-1 reverse at home to Bayern Munich before reaching the last four after extra-time. "It's a disgrace. Wednesday's thrilling encounter ranks alongside three other close-shaves for Madrid in the competition's quarter-finals.

Backed by City's Abu Dhabi-based owners, Guardiola has spent big money to bolster his squad and more reinforcements are likely to arrive before next season.

But they're heading in the right direction, they're playing football the like of which we've possibly never seen before, and they're winning.

'It's been a pleasure to play with this team and be part of everything we've achieved this season.

City skipper Vincent Kompany spoke in the aftermath of United's defeat against West Brom of his determination to see Pep Guardiola's charges create a trophy-winning dynasty at the club, and Aguero concurs.

West Brom had lost eight of their previous nine games and last won on January 13. And they could yet set a record for most points and most goals in a season.

City had moved within touching distance of the title with a 3-1 win at Tottenham on Saturday.

De Bruyne said he had enjoyed his team's league campaign as a whole, a season during which they have scored 93 goals and lost just twice.

It's too early to assess the magnitude of the achievement of this Manchester City side.
