'Avengers: Infinity War' makes $1 billion in a record 11 days

"Avengers: Infinity War" flexed its considerable muscle anew this weekend in North American theaters, pulling in a robust $112.5 million and leaving other top films in its dust, according to industry estimates. At the weekend they won another record "Awakening forces" - on fees in the first weekend in the USA, collecting 250 million to $ 248. That bests the 12 days it took Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Even with that drop in mind, it's worth noting that the film hasn't even opened in China, where it potentially stands to earn even more.

In its second weekend, Marvel Studios' Avengers: Infinity War retained its top spot at the box office, pulling in another $112.5 million domestically.

Overseas, the mega-Superhero group pic grossed another $162.6-M for a foreign total of $713.3-M and $1.164-B worldwide. A big showing in China could help propel Avengers: Infinity War towards the $2 billion mark, a feat only three movies in history have ever passed, Star Wars: The Force Awakens ($2.068 billion), Titanic ($2.187 billion) and Avatar ($2.788 billion). However, Solo, the upcoming Han Solo movie, is tracking for a $170 million+ opening weekend, which could set a new box office records itself.

Avengers: Infinity War is in theaters now.

In sixth place, "Tully", starring Charlize Theron, launched on 1,353 screens with $3.2 million. This is thanks to the movie's release during the Christmas holidays!

This overtakes Black Panther impressive second weekend total of $111 million. If Infinity War makes all its money upfront quick and fast, perhaps the film won't be able to dethrone Star Wars' monumental all-time domestic haul of $936.6 million.

The creative architects of "Infinity War" are two brothers from Cleveland.
