New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram suspended four games

Running back Mark Ingram has been suspended for a performance enhancing drug violation, according to multiple reports.

Ingram and his representatives at VIP Sports Management have not commented on the test results or whether Ingram will appeal.

The New Orleans Saints' loss has become the Atlanta Falcons' gain.

New Orleans boasted one of the most menacing rushing attacks last season with Ingram and rookie Alvin Kamara both accumulating over 1,500 total yards while earning Pro Bowl berths.

Rapoport noted that Ingram wasn't expected to attend OTAs and wouldn't be showing up until minicamp.

Ingram will be eligible to return to the Saints on Monday, October 1.

The Cleveland Browns have caught a bit of a break for their first road game of 2018. Alvin Kamara's clearly the victor here, but we'll see how much more of a rushing role the Saints hand him. Kamara finished the season with 120 carries for 728 yards and eight touchdowns with 81 receptions for 826 yards and five touchdowns.

The suspension comes just four months after Ingram completed the most successful year of his career. It will also hurt his statistics, which could in turn cost him leverage in negotiations next year, assuming the Saints let him hit free agency.

The former Heisman Trophy victor was a first-round draft pick in 2011. He will still be eligible for all of the Saints offseason programs, training camp, and preseason games.

He has 5,362 rushing yards, 1,428 receiving yards and 48 touchdowns during his seven-year career.
