Rooney to quit Everton for MLS club

And now it is claimed England's record goalscorer has agreed to leave Everton in a £12.5million move to U.S. capital-based team DC United.

Rooney has a summer offer from the MLS ahead of the summer transfer window, with DC United understood to be closing in on a deal for the former England worldwide.

The club now lie bottom of MLS's Eastern Conference after winning just one of their opening seven games of the season.

Rooney netted 253 goals for United and 53 for England on the way to becoming the Red Devils and the Three Lions' all-time record scorer.

In the four seasons since 2013-14, when he scored 17 in the Premier League, he has scored 12, eight, five and 10 goals. There are rumours about Wayne going elsewhere overseas - in China and America - but at the moment he is an Everton player and an Everton fan.

Earlier in the week, Allardyce insisted that the player was not looking to move on: "It would have to be massive for him to want leave Everton", he told Talksport.
