Liverpool boss Klopp lavishes praise on Sturridge: I've never seen him fitter!

Roberto Firmino struck a stoppage-time victor as Liverpool beat Paris St Germain 3-2 at Anfield on Tuesday after Kylian Mbappe looked to have secured a point for the French side in a compelling Champions League Group C clash.

But Firmino was fit enough to make the bench and he came on as a second-half substitute to score Liverpool's winning goal against PSG in injury time.

Daniel Sturridge's Liverpool career seemed to be heading for a premature end last season but the striker showed on Tuesday he may yet have an important role after taking his chance during a rare start in the Champions League win over Paris St Germain.

Klopp praised his side for the "outstanding" way in which they carried out his game plan against vaunted rivals and for having the courage to "play football" as a mouthwatering group C clash lived up to its lofty billing.

"The cool development of this club is that when you hear Liverpool are playing PSG you don't think we have no chance any more", the German manager told reporters.

Footage of the Egyptian hurling his bottle after Roberto Firmino's late goal quickly went viral, only for clips to then emerge of him celebrating beforehand.

"Even if we have the ball it can happen that in 10 seconds they can be in front of your goal".

While Liverpool fans are pumped for the nights when PSG, Roma or Borussia Dortmund come to town, games against Brighton, Bournemouth and Huddersfield have a different feel.

PSG travel to Rennes on Sunday, where they will look to maintain a 100 per cent start in Ligue 1, while Tuchel's men are back in Champions League action at home to Red Star Belgrade next month.

"The game also highlighted the strength in depth this Liverpool squad has, with Firmino coming off the bench to score a terrific victor".

"We look now much more tuned than it maybe was in the past", he said.

"I think they (the players) know that".

"We covered a lot of yards and closed all the gaps and when we had the ball, made them run and used the right wing".
