Microsoft Surface Pro 6 details leaked in an un-boxing video

With apologies to those of you who don't appreciate puns, a lot of Microsoft product news surfaced this afternoon, so without further ado let's dive right in and take a look at the product announcements.

Microsoft's hosting its annual hardware event later today in NY, and that means we are expected to see the new Surface range and maybe a bunch of other things too.

Much like the Pro, Surface Laptop was stuck on dual-core Kaby Lake when the world had moved on to the quad-core Kaby Lake Refresh parts last fall. Microsoft is claiming up to 14.5 hours of battery life on the new laptop, as well as 85% more performance, but the 85% gain is only because it sat with dual-core Kaby Lake for so long.

The report continues by noting that a new internal design should improve battery life, with Microsoft saying it should last you for nearly 14 hours. Also, it's worth noting that, while the base model ships with 128GB of internal storage, this can rise to 1TB depending on the options chosen.

We were one of the lucky few sites to get a chance to review the original Surface Studio, and it remains one of the best displays available on any PC, tied together with an all-in-one PC. Just like the Surface Pro 6, the Surface Laptop doesn't come with an USB-C port, which is a bit disappointing.

In regards to a release, the Surface Pro 6 is available to pre-order today and will begin shipping on October 16.

One of the most expected announcements for Microsoft's launch event is the successor to the Surface Pro (2017) that was launched a year ago.

Microsoft has not detailed the exact battery capacity present inside the Surface Pro 6, but the company does state that the machine will be able to give you 13.5 hours of endurance.

Nate will check in soon with some hands-on of the new devices. The Surface Laptop 2 will start at $999, which should be affordable enough for the students Microsoft is targeting with this device.

Kicking things off with arguably the most important detail, the newest Surface Pro model can support processors with up to four cores.

The company also unveiled its next-generation Windows software - called Windows 10 October 2018 Update - which has a focus on productivity.
