He was 95 years old, and would have celebrated his 96th birthday in late December. Stan Lee created or was involved in the creation of hundreds of superheroes, and (of course) inspired countless others.

Lee's wife of almost 70 years, Joan, died in 2017.

"Stan Lee was a member of the Long Island family and a major part of my childhood", said Charlie Ziegler, president of the Tri-State Stan Lee Fab Club. It moved quickly to develop Lee's brand and content in China, and last month (Oct. 1-3, 2018) held the first "Stan Lee (Shanghai) Comic Universe" convention at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition Center. "He loved his life and he loved what he did for a living".
